Today, some advice from a real bride! Chrissy and Justin got married at Graduate Athens in January, and I’m so happy to be able to share her insights from the day!
Chrissy and Justin met in college, and I absolutely love the way they look at each other. They were just beaming the entire day, but this has to be my favorite moment, after they were pronounced husband and wife, and you can see in their faces how thrilled they are at their good fortune to have found each other.
Here’s what Chrissy has to say…
What is your best advice for a bride? Or for a groom?
Just enjoy every little moment of planning and the precious memories you get to make when planning the wedding. I stressed over to many little things like hair and makeup knowingly that those 2 things do not make or break the day.
What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
Just how well everything flowed by using a wedding planner. I HIGHLY recommend having one because they take all the stress away leading up to and on the day of the wedding.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
Did you have any wedding day nerves? What did you do to tame them?
I did not think I would but I did — Definitely take everything with a grain of salt on the wedding day and do not allow anyone to make you feel rushed. The ceremony cannot start until the bride and groom are both ready and everyone will wait patiently so just rememmber no rush, no pressure.
What did you love (or hate) about wedding planning? What made it easier?
The hardest part about wedding planning is delegating tasks to others. You don’t want to put too much weight on anyone else’s shoulders but if someone offers “Hey, what can I do”….. I assure you there are even the little tasks you can delegate which actually allows others to feel helpful and involved.
What advice would you give to newly married couples?
Remember this is your time to celebrate your love and family. I am so excited that on our wedding day we made it all about family and friends and being together because this is how we carry our relationship always. So just remember it isnt about the dress or the shoes….it is about enjoying time together. and take the time to have a day or 2 to yourselves, even if you can’t immediately go on a honeymoon–just take time for yourselves.
Were there any special moments during the day that you weren’t expecting?
Standing up on the ledge with justin overlooking our wedding guests having a great time was one of the best feelings.
I will be back with lots more photos from the day!
