Yesterday I called Sherry and John’s wedding “Modern Victorian”, and I focused on a lot of the vintage style elements. Today, I’m going to turn toward the modern. Since it was a gorgeous spring day, we took to the streets. One of my favorite things about a Wimbish House wedding is that the venue sits right at 14th and Peachtree, so the heart of Atlanta is just steps away.
People often ask me what they can do to make their photos great. And I believe #1 on the list is to just relax and have a good time. Sherry and John are such a cool couple, and their friends and family are so much fun to be around. It helps to create a relaxed, easy environment that makes for natural images.
LOVE the sunglasses.
The great thing about Atlanta is that you can be in the middle of the city and still see a scene like this:
Back at the Wimbish House, as guests arrived, someone took their photo and then put them in these adorable little books so the guests could sign next to their photo. I love the retro-style photo corners!
The other thing that goes a long way toward creating a relaxed, fun day (besides the awesome people) is a great wedding planner. Someone who can take care of the details so that the bride and groom don’t have to sweat the small stuff. This wedding was under the care of Amanda Ready, of Atlanta Event Studio. I shot Amanda’s wedding years ago, so when she started her own business I was so excited because I knew that not only is she great at creating a stylish event, but she has the sweet and calm demeanor that is so necessary to do it well and create a relaxed environment.
I really loved this ceremony. It felt intimate, sweet, heartfelt. During a ceremony I feel like the personalities of the bride and groom can just take over the entire room, and that was definitely true here. They filled the room with kind, unassuming happiness.
One of my all-time favorite images, as they left the ceremony:
Want to know how to set a relaxed tone for the reception? Maybe I’m influenced byt the Corona ads, but looking at this I feel like I want to kick my feet up on the beach.
But that’s not the only beverage represented at the reception. Love the groom’s cake.
So much fun at the reception!
