Today I get to show you a surprise party that will warm your heart with peachy goodness. Alleyne has been a client of mine for years, and I was so excited to hear that she was throwing a surprise party for her parents’ 30th wedding anniversary.
First I want to show you the decor. When The Aikens got married in 1982, their wedding colors were peach and cream, so Alleyne used that as inspiration for the party. Love the soft details here, with flowers by Tulip, rentals by Classic Party Rentals, and gorgeous linens by I Do Linens.
Love this card box Alleyne created!
Even the favors were peach… these sweet jars of peach preserves. Delish!
There were other peachy details, even the desserts. Oh my God, these peach macaroons by Sift! were totally addictive. Alleyne was so kind to send some home with me, and they disappeared quickly. I don’t even know what happened, it was all a blur.
It was so wonderful to see all the people come to honor the Aikens. Despite moving around a lot with the military, they have been able to maintain relationships with people throughout their entire lives and travels. Alleyne created these mad-libs style cards for guests to share their experience and memories. Love that!
And I have to add to that, that feeling the love in this room was awesome. I knew from the energy in the place that the Aikens are the type of people you don’t meet every day. They are very active in their community and in helping people, making a mark on everyone they meet. The honest admiration and affection that they’ve garnered creates such an energy. You can just FEEL love like that in a room. In fact, I can still feel it!
For dinner … I have never seen this before, and LOVED the idea of individual spaghetti and meatballs, from Fred Brown Events.
They were presented with this amazing painting by artist Leroy Campbell!
And check out this great idea! After dinner, guests went outside for line dancing lessons. So much fun!
And afterwards they were ready to light the fire pits, where guests could grab individual packs of ready-to-roast smores.
What a cool, creative party! Alleyne’s tips for party planning include:
– For a surprise party, having an updated time line so all vendors and friends know what’s going on.
– Hiring staff so you can enjoy the party!
