I [emoji heavy black heart] food photography.
Maybe because I love food in general, but I love when food gets elevated to an artistic level. Making it not just delicious, but gorgeous. I watch Top Chef and The Taste and all the cake decorating shows that that really illustrate the artistic process that goes along with great cooking. Today I was reviewing the images from Berlin and Jordan’s party a few weeks ago, and I was drawn in by these images of the food, a feast for ALL the senses. At this party (at the West Side Arts Center, by the way) Glorious Events did the catering, and I can tell you that this food was just as delicious as it looked.
But, like a guest coming in to a party, we’re gonna stop at the bar first. They had two signature cocktails, the Wild Hibiscus Cocktail, and a Cranberry Frost, featuring a drop of dry ice. Have you ever seen such gorgeous drinks?
First stop: Sweetwater “Sweet Georgia Brown” braised beef short ribs with polenta cakes and brussels sprout crisps. Every dish was served up to guests looking exactly this gorgeous.
Want seconds? Let’s go to the next station, with Jerk chicken with sweet potato mash, french green beans and a berry reduction.
Still hungry? Next stop is the blackened salmon with dragon fruit salsa and quinoa pilaf.
Okay, as much as I could be pretty full on three plates of food, there is ALWAYS room for dessert. This cake by For Goodness Cakes is just so, so lovely. But then, I’ve never seen them do a cake I wasn’t totally enamored by.
So you think that’s it? Nope! A little dessert-y bonus was the crepe station, prepared to order with strawberry coulis, chocolate sauce, Nutella, bananas and whipped cream. Like a banana split crepe. Oh, they had me at Nutella.
