The funny thing about working with kids is that sometimes they can be slow to warm up to new people. Sure, sometimes it’s great and kids come skipping right up to me ready to make a new friend, but there’s a special satisfaction in having a kid start off cold as ice and winning them over. It makes me feel great!! Especially when it’s a baby, because it’s not like I can tell a baby jokes (well, I can, but they won’t get them). I just have to be in their space and make it known that I’m friendly so they can relax, because that’s when the photo magic happens. And once we have that bond, it’s easier to carry it forward into other sessions.
This session started out with Olivia giving me the “who the *bleep* are you?” face.
I particularly love this one, because, bubbles.
And then it happened. After a little sweet talk and probably a quick game of peekaboo, she started looking at me like I was an old buddy.
And then, the BIG PRIZE! This smile is like winning the lottery.
Ok, this isn’t a smile, but come on, BABY FEET.
I’m going to take a step back for a moment to look at this soft, beautiful nursery. So elegant, and soothing.
The other family members got in on the session too. We did photos with Grandma, big brother, and parents. The highlight for me was seeing how much Olivia’s big brother loves her and loves to make her smile.
I love taking a lifestyle approach to these sessions, so since they like to read together, that’s what we did. Look at how interested she is!
And then it was time for some family photos, which included lots of playtime too.
Then it was time for a baby wardrobe change, and by then we were besties.
Now it was a little quieter and we had more family time in the baby’s room.
And then finally it was just the baby and mommy, as she drifted off to sleep.
And they lived happily ever after…
