Sana + Nima met and courted in Washington DC, so when we talked about where to do their engagement photos, they said, Hey, let’s go to Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival! I LOVED that idea. It has been years since I’ve been to the area, and I’ve never seen the cherry blossoms, so I was super excited.
We lucked out too, because it was a spectacular day! It was about 73 degrees and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. It’s pretty amazing to see such a large area just FILLED with these beautiful trees.
It had rained the day before, and you know I can’t resist a good puddle for reflections!
Right in the middle of the area were were at was the Jefferson Memorial. We had great views of the entire area, and a spot to escape the crowds a little, too.
Oh, and did I mention CROWDS? The fact that it was a perfect spring day in the middle of peak cherry blossoms meant there were about a gazillion people enjoying the festivities too. For the most part I tried to downplay the number of people and shoot where it wasn’t so crowded, but I did kind of love getting some shots that show how many people were around!
We also decided to move to the spot where they had their very first date. It’s so special to me to get to see where a couple’s journey began!
Plus, this neighborhood is so adorable. I have to say I love the mailman coming out from one of these businesses and waiting for us. It just adds to the charm of this area.
